Facsimile #1

By chance, when I stared at the old fax machine for a long time, I realized that the old machine is evidence of the idea of post industrial society; duplicate, telecommunication, and network. I designed the fax machine as the drawing machine that can publish the artwork created by the environmental sound including the noise which is generated by the machine itself.

Facsimile #2

As a part of the interrupted drawing project series, I decided to redesign the fax machine as the drawing machine that can publish the artwork created by a artist in realtime over the telephone network. A participator dials the number that he wants to send and then tries to draw images or write messages on the shifting paper directly in the fax machine, with attempting to create forms or messages consciously are interrupted by the moving paper. As a result, a receiver would get the deconstructed and interrupted copies that the participator sent from a distance.

I have send the following message to several galleries:
“Make a copy at a distance”
